Ship repairers at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife are increasingly looking at the cruise industry to carry out voyage repairs and other work.
“This activity is really important for offshore business but in addition, the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife berth now for reparation, cruise ships like Ocean Endeavour,” the port said in a statement.
The expedition cruise ship ship, which belongs to Florida based tonnage provider SunStone, will be around one month in the port to do different types of reparation before sail to Saint John in Canada for circumnavigate Newfoundland and stay in the Arctic region for summer time.
Thomson Cruises, the UK based cruise operator in the TUI AG group, is expected to carry out work on one of its vessels in November, which has been the case for several years. Thomson Cruises has a ship based in the Atlantic Islands for each winter season.
“Recently, other cruise lines like Fred Olsen (Cruise Lines) used the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for reparations, painting and so on. The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife offers more than 30 reparation companies, providing specialised services with all certifications,” the port said.
