Celestyal Cruises, the Athens based operator that focuses on cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean, has decided to sell its largest ship, only about a year after it had acquired the vessel.
The Covid-19 pandemic had impacted the market and led to the decision to sell the ship.
Sale of the 1993 built Celestyal Experience that has a gross tonnage of 56,769, would be provide the company a liquidity injection and allow it to continue to operate its two remaining ships, the 1982 built Celestyal Olympia and Celestyal Crystal, which is on similar vintage.
Celestyal Experience, which traded as Costa neoRomantica prior to the acquisition by Celestyal, was significantly rebuilt in 2011,when it took that name. It had been built by Fincantieri as Costa Romantica.
