Olsen Cruise Lines’ recently launched ‘Solar Eclipse’ cruise aboard Boudicca (D1504) has proved so popular that it is now fully booked; due to the enormous interest in this amazing phenomenon, the cruise line is pleased to announce a second cruise aboard Black Watch to allow more of its guests this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the company said in a statement
A total solar eclipse is one of the most awe-inspiring natural spectacles in the world, and one of the most difficult to view; it occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, entirely obscuring the Sun and blocking all direct sunlight, turning daylight into complete darkness.
The newly launched cruise (W1502) will depart from Southampton on 16th March 2015 for 14 nights and will be positioned off the coast of the Faroe Islands on 20th March, when the longest duration of totality – the best opportunity to view the eclipse – occurs. The cruise operates a similar itinerary to the Boudicca cruise, visiting Runavik (Faroe Islands), Leknes (Lofoten islands), Tromsø, Alta, Trondheim and Ǻlesund (all Norway) and returning to Southampton.
