Carnival Triumph of Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) lost power for eight minutes after an electrical breaker failed, the KATC television network reports on its website, citing CCL. "Carnival says the loss of power affected ventilation in the ship's incinerator, sending smoke into limited areas of three decks. Carnival officials say no fires broke out on the ship as a result of the electrical outage," the report said.
The ship was on a voyage from Cozumel to Galveston at the time of the incident. The Coast Guard was notified of the incident. Coast Guard officials tell KATC no one on the ship is in danger, the report said.
Carnival Triumph was built in Italy in 1999 and it has a gross tonnage of 101,509. CCL is part of Carnival Corporation & plc, the world's largest cruise shipping company.
